How ETF’s Are Like iPods

Remember the old record player? You would lift the needle and put it down on the 45 and play your favourite song by Elton John. It wasn’t very portable and you could only have one album on at a time. In came the Walkman and you could play cassette tapes with a couple of dozen songs on your mix tape while out jogging but you had to fast forward and reverse to get to different songs. Usher in the iPod where you could have an entire library of music in the palm of your hand and could flip from song to song in seconds.

Imagine that stocks are the old record player and then came the mutual fund, akin to the Walkman and now ETFs are the iPod of investing.  ETFs hold a wealth of different stocks, catering to a variety of investors with different risk tolerances and, just like the iPod they cost a fraction of what the Walkman costs.

Would you buy a record player or a Walkman today? No, because the world has evolved and we need to evolve with it. Today the wave of the future is investing in low cost ETFs with fees as low as 0.25%. Start investing in ETFs today.
